Christmas in july Paperless Post

Life has been sweet so far and to keep it that way, we try to spend more time with family and friends to make lifelong sweet memories. Ain’t that the treasure of life anyway? So here comes the reason to celebrate Christmas in July. I put my all into party planning to make it “The Unique party” experience for guests. But I have learned that “Simple is New SMART!” When the simplest form of pretty arrangements happens flawlessly  with all the crowd in the party; you know, that your party is successful when everyone is simply enjoying time. Back to what I have planned for my “Christmas  in July” party in my home, are listed below. Food, games, Invitations, thank you notes and much more…

First comes the Invitations on the list and needless to mention. I had to create my own. “Simple” is on my mind and below invite is the outcome.

The Christmas Card design is inspired by Warli Art. If you don’t have time to make your own card like I did, check out the brand new collection of Christmas cards availableover at Paperless Post. My personal favorite is this and this one!

Next comes, deciding the Menu. We have included ourselves to one of those dry communities here in USA being  in “Hindu Vegetarian (no egg) and alcohol free” Zone and so food items might not be authentic Christmassy dishes. 😉

Cocktail drink chosen Watermelon punch being party in July.

Update on Side dish:  Sesame Veggie Lo Mein Noodles. This is on my To-Try list for next party, as its easy, kid friendly (No spices) and who doesn’t like Noodles? Thank you so much Miss Z. for sharing your KitchenAffairs with foodie people like us. Do check her recipes out fellas.

Last but not least are Home decors and Games. For the party, I stick to one element for the decors. Fresh Succulents for outdoors and flowers for indoors. I also like backyard party but its too hot in July here. For the kids play area, used lots of balloons filled with candies. 😀  For kids games, we bought lots of crayons and coloring pages, piano, puzzles and board games like candyland from Target. For adults, we bought sequence board game while we have late night snacks after desserts.

For “Thank you for coming” favors, I gave them my handmade Henna Mini Canvas for home decors.  And that was our blast for the Christmas in July. As someone said once,

Peppa pig Birthday party Ideas

Celebrating birthday is always fun and it becomes more fun when you get to be crafty for your favorite person on the Earth. While we (whole Family) tried our best , it might not sound perfect party to all the readers. Because everyone’s definition for  “Perfect” is different. Everyone’s “Rights” and “Wrongs” are defined different.  But as long you see everyone one in your party enjoying with that big smile on face; sounds much like  PERFECT to me. And this was not possible without my Family and friends who pitched in for the party preparation. Below are some ideas for Peppa pig birthday party for 3 yrs old.  Below were the decorations, party favor bags, games and food for our party.

Decoration Supplies (bought from Party city and Handmade):

  • Birthday Banner (party city), wall hangings (party city), Yard characters (handmade), peppa pig drawing(handmade), balloons (party city).

  • Fruit Basket
  • baby Carrots and Tzatziki sauce dip
  • Raj Kachori / Raj Khasta Kachori (Click the link for ingredients and recipe)
  • Spinacopita (Costco)
  • Hummus & pita chips
  • Juice for kids and adults
  • Coke for adults
  • Ritz crackers, Indian Rice Crackers (papadi/ sarevda), Sev (homemade)
  • Pizza
  • Peppa pig cake chocolate
  • La Madeline cake ( costco)
  • Small mango cake (extra)
  • Cilantro coconut green chutney, Red Chutney (dates), Sweet yogurt sauce.

Having  Birthday near Easter weekend, the game was pretty much fixed(Easter egg hunt), but to look like more peppa game I changed the concept to use water balloons to find treasure with peppa’s friends in backyard. Also Peppa mean jumping in muddy puddles, but wanted the muddy puddles jumping clean; so ended up doing Ball Pit puddles jumping in a big cardboard box. We only had Raj kachori as one Indian item on the menu. But thanks to my creative foodie friends; they ended up creating innovative combination from the ingredients on the table. You see the big basket with Indian rice crackers(papadi), was topped with green moong sprout, potato, onions, tomatoes(stuffing for raj kachori), chat masala and sev. So officially we had papadi chat and raj kachori ( 2 Indian items) on the menu. Hope you have fun with your peppa pig party.

Going to India is like going HOME!!

“Going to India is like going HOME!! Even after 8 years and counting but…. Feeling is still the same.  Living life in USA is like Pre-determined, planned, scheduled Routine, In other words ROBOTIC… Going back to SOIL OF INDIA is like “NO PLAN WORKS for you” but those unknown surprises, sounds, shouting and forever traffic jam has utmost Happiness… Land of Possibility, True Spirituality and Ultimate Salvation. ” (Quote credit- Vishal Gandhi‘s FB post from Year 2014)

Anyway there are some memories that you cant create anywhere but your homeland and you cherish them for rest of your life. So first Highlight of our trip was Traffic and finding your way through it. Even though you feel handicapped for the first couple days as nothing goes as you plan, but there is a feeling behind every wish that it will happen or at least possible. Few days you be very polite and kind on the Roads and yield to all the traffic. Then next day my husband drove a car without yielding to any traffic on the road to reach some place in time and damn, it felt like a victory. Every time I thought of this and smirk a little.

Second was visiting our Sister’s Office, not to mention only Business Owner in the Family yet.  I think she felt more proud when we were taking turns to sit on her chair in her office to take photos and flaunt about it as if we own the business. Also, visited GSFC where all my husbands’ family grew up. It was a good time to know where he played cricket, tennis. All his sisters got awards for either playing TT, volleyball, or crowd cheering “once more” for Song Performance. It was indeed a Proud Moment for us!

Third was trip to Adalaj vav, Indrola park in Gandhinagar. My parents and I lived here, but visited these places first time in life. All credit goes to my Husband for this. Also we all went to Arijit Singh concert and fun family get to gather. I also got honey blonde hair  highlights for the first time for THE Arijit concert and upcoming Jaipur trip! The concert was mind blowing. That guy sang  for 3 hours straight.

Fourth was our Trip to Jaipur (The Pink city), Rajasthan with our lovely family. After almost 12 hours of road trip, we lost the first day to hang out. Welcome to India, My friend. We did visit Hawa Mahal, Jantar Mantar, Amer Fort, Elephant Ride (Her name was Basanti) and Horse Carriage rides. King of Amer fort had 16 queens and so room for each. On the way back my husband and the Brother in law joking about they also own a house with 4- 5 rooms and they are the king of their own palace but only allowed to have one queen. Of course the trip ended with shopping. I am sure the hubbies were fascinated with concept of multiple queens.

Fifth was celebrating Uttrayan after 8 years and eating chikki. Shouting ” E Lapet!” or “Kaipo Chhe!” And we are always Hungry for street food after every lunch and dinner. We would rather have upset stomach than missing a chance to eat any given street food.  Tasty vadapav, cholafali, manchurian, charbhuja ni sandwich, Barbeque nation, Shakti ni pani puri, Rajvadu, kathiyawadi khadaki, manekchok, karnavati ni dabeli, sekeli makai, tgb, Azure and what not! How can we miss Paras Pan after delicious street food? We had Fire pan, ice cream pan, chocolate pan, Kharek, Magai pan and many more varieties. Also home made food was unbeatable, undhiyu, pizza, choli nu shak, methini bhaji nu besan valu shak, gatte ki sabji, papd pauva, Methina thepala, tikhi sev, makai na vada, fada ni khichadi…… uff slurp slurp…

Sixth was visiting my Husband’s Village-Dabha, where they used go for their summer vacation. On the way eating Dakor na Gota, Sharbat soda, Camel ride (His name was Raju) and other camel was named Rangeela. Visiting our farm and neighbours in village, eating yummiest home made dalbati.

Last was oranges brought specially for us from Nagpur and Orange Burfee (novelty from Nagpur) and Dudh mava penda from relatives. My daughter and cousins had fun feeding the puppies coming to front yard. They even fed all the cream biscuits, thepla and every special thing that was brought or made for them by grandparents to the puppies. I am sure puppies are missing these kids as much as kids are missing them. Every one now coming to greet us with some sweets as we started packing to head back here.

Saddest moment of the Trip: getting ready to come back and in the whole flight back you think seriously to move back for good. Kids crying for days to stay with each other. After 1 week, closing the eyes still feel like sitting in the car in India and we are all together with them and going to visit some new place or planning to eat out the yummiest street food. Visiting India is like drinking Energy drink at end of the hard working year. Its like an apple a day! You must do it once a year if you can!

Shadow Photography

So, this one is really a photo I took from my phone. My little one loves elephant. And we have an arch window in the home where we have put elephant for display. Everyday when sun sets, we can see the shadow of our display elephant on the wall across the arch window. My little one thinks that elephant comes to say Hi. And if you can see the little man kind of figure in the picture, is my husband. 🙂 Well, we also have his trophies put in the arch window. I took the photo of the shadow and for some reason I think its unique. So, here you go with my creative photography attempt.

He loves to play cricket and he is good at it to receive those trophies as his achievements. And I must say that all of the trophies are  “Always Achieved and Never Given”. I am so proud of him.
